check that off the "lifetime goal list"

When the question, do you ski or snowboard?, arises on dates, yes, it comes up a lot actually, I usually mumble, "ummm...I've never skied or snowboarded." {cough}

But that's not the case anymore! In March, my roommates and I drove up to Brian Head to learn how to ski! We went to the "ski school" and our instructor's name was Papa Jim. He embodied everything that a middle-aged southern utah man should be--- a hard worker, callused hands, smile wrinkles, and the occasional curse word slipped into conversations.

To calm our nerves, he started the class, "In all my 30 years of teaching, I've never had an accident." {please clarify. you've never had an accident? or your students?} He re-worded his response, "my students have never had a accident." Well, that made me feel a little better.

Papa Jim taught us a few basics...snowplowing...carving...bindings...etc. Then he said well, let's head to the chair lift. At which point, I started to freak out but Janelle, piped up, "umm how do you get off a chair lift?"

"I'll teach you at the top." he says. {awesome.}

Janelle and I never really mastered the chairlift, which made those boys I was flirting with earlier on the slopes get a nice laugh. no hopes for meeting up at the pizza barn later :)

But overall it was so much fun!! I loved it!

maybe you had to be there. but ashlee is a twig. her ski pants, however, made her look otherwise. we all couldn't stop laughing!
